This is the first novel in a four-part series from an author whose stories typically deal with cases of supernatural occurrence, divine intervention, reincarnation, and ghosts, and are often based on or inspired by true stories reported from various locales around the state of Tamil Nadu. The work was later adapted for television as well.
Chitrapaavai by Akilan

Categorized as a contemporary social novel, the work revolves around Annamalai, and his calm and dreamy nature. Written by Akilandam under his pen name, it went on to make him one of the two Tamil-language Jnanpith awardees, and it has been widely translated into other Indian languages since.
