This an epic novel by a Jnanpith Awardee follows the decline of traditional culture. The title, roughly translatable to a thousand hoods, refers to the thousand-hooded serpent god who serves as the divine protector of the village where the story is set.
Maha Prasthanam by Srirangam Srinivasarao

An anthology of poems written between 1930 and 1940 whose title can be understood as The Great Journey to a New World. The poet is credited with revolutionizing poetry, by moving from poems about traditional mythological themes to social injustices plaguing contemporary society.
Vimukta Kadha Samputi by Volga

Written by P. Lalita Kumari under her pen name, this collection of short stories won the Sahitya Akademi Award. Volga's work introduced the Telugu readership to the feminist movement, and this collection continues that legacy with stories about women in the Ramayana.
